i feel that although singapore is a largely patriachal society,many policie sand laws are made to protect the womenfolk.perhaps it is precisely becos singapore is a patriachal society.anyway a female can sue or charge a male who says or behaves towards her in a suggestive or derogatary manner.i shant be explicit.
family is the building block of a nation.understanding this logic the goverment have come up with various policies such as the fiance/fiancee scheme,where courting couples who intend to get married,will be gven priority for hdb flats.tax rebates are given to parents who have more than one child,.to prevent an ageing population ,incentives such as the above and free edusave have also been given to encourage more ppl to have more children.
i do support these policies wholeheartedly as it does help to ease the fiancial strain faced by families with more kids.however despite these measure,many are still hesitating in having children for various reasons such as no time and patience,or wishing to keep svelte figures.i feel that these people are selfish.i hope that the goverment will come up with measures to punish these people.
the bible clearly states the purpose of marriage is procreation.so instead of coercing these recalitrant people to have children,i feel that more emotional and fiancial assistance should be directed towards single parents.public recognition should be gfiven for their strength and dedication.
instead of directing stares of condemation and derogatary thoughts to unwed mothers,we should offer them support and show respect.for instead of aborting the baby,they chose to brave the consequences and let the life in them grow.t least they are better than those people who although under the veil of marriage choose not to have children although they are wealthy ebnough to do so. they should be contributing to singapores population when they have the means to do so
